Research On Baosteel 's Environmental Management Strategy

Iron and steel industry is the national economy’s fundamental and strategic industry in China. The national economy has witnessed a sustained and rapid development in these several decades, and the iron and steel industry has obtained the rapid development as well. But China is still not a power country for iron and steel production, due to poor product structure, low resources utilization rate, serious environmental pollution, weak technological innovative capability, weak international competitiveness and many other problems. An ecological transformation of iron and steel industry of resource-conserving and environmentally friendly is the main direction of development for the iron and steel industry in our country.However, the traditional environmental management already can’t keep pace to the increasingly fierce competition and the society development. Baosteel group, as a large iron and steel enterprise group, actively explores new business philosophy, strives to become a drive of the green industry chain, and races a giant leap in the field of environmental management.Environmental management means that the environmental protection is leaking into the whole process of enterprise management. It is an organic part of the whole business activities of enterprises. The main purpose of this paper is to discuss the connotation of Baosteel environment management strategy, to analyze the drawbacks and the new challenge of current management strategy of Baosteel and to propose implementation counter-measures for environmental management strategy.The contents are divided into three parts, namely theoretical study, empirical study and countermeasures study, as a total of seven chapters. The first chapter is the introduction part, showing the research background. The following three chapters, as the theoretical part, mainly illustrates the theoretical basis and analyzes the present situation of the iron and steel industry and steel industry. The fifth chapter, as the empirical research part, is one of the core part. It discusses the current situation of the implementation of environment management strategy in Baosteel.The sixth chapter, the countermeasures study part, proposes the countermeasures for the implementation of environmental management from three aspects (1) the business enterprise inside,(2) within the industry and (3) in the industry itself.
