Research On The Development Of China 's IC Industry

Taiwan’s successful experience tells us that to develop integrated circuit industry, firstly, we must have a strong, internationally competitive core business, and secondly to play a leading role in the core business, promote the development of a number of enterprises in order to promote the industry great-leap-forward development.Twenty-first century customers are increasingly demanding complex, integrated solutions rather than standardized products and services delivered in homogeneous volume. This trend, combined with today’s volatile world of uncertainty and rapid change, call for a structure of activities and interactions between businesses that can be quickly and flexibly reconfigured. Especially in the integrated circuit industry, the rapid development of information technology and the ever-changing market, so companies face great uncertainty. Faced with these difficulties, the traditional value chain theory does not work. A potential solution to this conundrum may be found in what we term, following James Moore, a "business ecosystem"-a network of organizations and individuals that co-evolve their capabilities and roles and align their investments so as to create additional value and/or improve efficiency.In this paper, the role of integrated circuits enterprises in the PC business ecosystem and mobile devices business ecosystem were analyzed. ARM and TSMC through case studies of ARM and TSMC companies, found that in addition to master advanced technology itself, integrated circuits enterprise also need to pay attention to cooperation with customers, creating value for customers, co-evolution, thus was able to achieve leadership in a complex environment, occupy an invincible position.On this basis, the paper introduced the current development of China’s IC industry, and bring forward four proposals for the development of China’s IC industry’s:to build the core business with vertical industry chain resource integration capability; Establish an open innovation platform; foundry enterprises should "catch up with the advanced "; niche players to pinpoint suitable position.
