A Study On Urban Poverty In China

Since the1990s, accompanied by China’s economic transition, adjustments in the industrial structure and policy changes, urban poverty is increasingly prominent. Urban poverty hinders economic development, threatening social harmony and stability, affecting the overall development of the individual. The pace of governing poverty lag, lagging after development of the poor. Although the country has taken a series of measures, but the gap between rich and poor in the urban interior so grim that we are aware of the problem of poverty is imminent. It can be said, to effectively solve the problem of urban poverty is a prerequisite for the realization of China dream.First, relevant theories of poverty issue as background, on the basis of a comprehensive analysis of the research results about urban poverty at home and abroad, according to national statistics, China’s urban poor groups were divided, the measure are discussed and summarizing present situation and impact of urban poverty in China.Second, from structure, policy and the poor three angles own terms, to analyze the causes of urban poverty, to point out that economic development imbalances and irrational industrial structure is the root cause of urban poverty.Finally, according to the previous analysis of the reasons, to put forward that expanding employment as the core of a comprehensive countermeasures. To point out that the effective means to solve urban poverty is to increase the accumulation of human capital, to make efforts to expand employment opportunities and improve the quality of employment, give full play to the leading role of the government.
