Triangular mesh model is one of the most popular methods used for the digital geometric modeling of objects. Mesh simplification and mesh parameterization are the key issues in the triangular mesh model. With the requirement of the fine degree of the model in industry, the requirement of the mesh simplification and mesh parameterization is more and more high.A particular analysis about several typical mesh parameterization, compared their advantages and disadvantages. And a particular analysis about several typical mesh simplification combined with the corresponding algorithm processes,mainly did the following research:(1) On the basis of the original quadric error simplification algorithm, joining vertex neighborhood flatness, degree of a vertex, edge length, edge on both sides of the flatness constraint factors. And in the edge folding cost function, it is integrated with the smoothing effect, so that the simplified model is closer to the original model, and the model surface is smoother and more natural. The local detail information of the original mesh model is well preserved.(2) According to the proposed method of QEM normal vector mesh simplification algorithm, modified and used in the above mesh parameterization, multi-level grid approximation. Algorithm after the completion of each layer of mesh simplification,to solve partial deletion of vertices of local parameterization problem, to avoid the solving large matrix system which brings the complex calculation. The algorithm is successfully applied in the application of the remesh and texture mapping based on mesh parameterization.
