MIMO (Multiple-Input Multiple-Output) radar is the focus of research in the field of radar. Since MIMO radar transmits orthogonal waveforms, the optimization design of orthogonal waveform is the key issue in its research work. Orthogonal waveform design will directly determine the performances of radar systems. This thesis mainly focuses on the classification of orthogonal code waveforms design and the classification of orthogonal frequency waveforms design. Meanwhile, with the classification of orthogonal code waveforms applied, the thesis studies the angle estimation under bistatic MIMO radar.Therefore, the main research contents of this thesis are as follows:1. Introduced the basic principle and characteristics of MIMO radar, and discussed waveform classification and design principles of MIMO radar.2. Studied the orthogonal phase coded signal design method based on Hadamard matrix. By using the orthogonal properties of Hadamard matrix, this design of orthogonal two-phase coded signal and orthogonal polyphase coded signal have zero-offset strictly orthogonal, which can improve the clutter cancellation effect and angle measurement accuracy.3. Studied the design method and performance of orthogonal frequency division linear frequency modulation signal (OFDM-LFM). By analyzing the ambiguity function and cross-ambiguity function, the relationship of its parameters and cross-correlation output is obtained. Studied the structure and encoding of orthogonal multiple carrier phase-coded signal, and discussed its autocorrelation characteristics and spectral characteristics. The design criteria and optimization method are proposed. Complementary sequence set and genetic algorithm (GA) are employed to design the orthogonal multiple carrier phase-coded signal with good correlation properties.4. Analyzed the system model of bistatic MIMO radar. With the classification of orthogonal code waveforms applied, used Capon algorithm and MUSIC algorithm to achieve the angle joint estimation. And the thesis compared the spatial spectrum of uniform linear arrays and non-uniform linear arrays. The results show that MUSIC algorithm has better ability of angle estimation than Capon algorithm. We both found that non-uniform linear arrays have better ability of parameter estimation under the same algorithm.
