In the age of information, with the rapid development of the Internet, the transmission of image data is particularly important. However, because of the limit of large amount of data, the slow transmission speed in the transmission of image data, the research on image data technology becomes more and more important. Nowadays, the application of image becomes more and more extensive. It is mainly used in image display, storage, transmission and so on. From the practical application, we found that the storage of image data occupies more and more resources. Therefore, image compression technology has become an important research in today’s society.In this paper, a PNG format image compression is researched, the compression algorithm is used by derivative lossless compression algorithm of LZ77. Not only the acquisition of the PNG format images can obtain higher compression ratio, but also the image quality cannot be damaged. This method could save storage space, and obtain the original image data after taking a picture. It has a certain practical significance. In this design, it can realize the acquisition of image from mobile phone camera, and compress it into PNG format pictures. Through acquiring the positioning information when taking photos, and then upload to the FTP server in PC by communication network.
