This article is based on the high requirements for testing accuracy of the space using Inductosyn, in order to test and compensate the error of the Inductosyn, the automatic error testing system is designed and implemented with a single-axis precision air bearing turntable. The testing system can measure the error of the Inductosyn at any position within 360 degrees. It provides the basement for the research on technologies of precise angle measurement with Inductosyn transducer.First of all, Work principle, work model and signal processing circuit of the Inductosyn are described in this paper. It also analyzes the error sources and the characteristics of the Inductosyn. The error is divided in to two types. One is the short period error. The other one is the long period error. The short period error repeats in every 360 degrees in the mechanical angle, which is caused by installation error. The long period error repeats in every 360 degrees in the electric angle, which is caused by zero error, amplitude error and harmonic potential.Secondly, according to the signal processing technology of the Inductosyn, schemes and designs of the automatic error testing platform. The platform is consist of two parts, the hardware structure and software structure. The hardwar e part is based on AD2S1210 to complete the exciting, signal processing, and communicating with computer. The software part is the control program based on MFC, it can communicate with Programmable Multi-Axis Controller to control the turntable and get the responses. Via the controlling and calculating of the software, the system can test and compensate the error of the Inductosyn.With the error testing platform, the error of the Inductosyn is tested and analyzed, get the error characteristics and the harmonic components of the Inductosyn. Provides two methods of error measurement and compensation of the Inductosyn including polynomial interpolation compensation and Fourier series compensation. At last, gives the back-to-back type error separation method, for the further research in the error testing and compensating of the Inductosyn.
