With the development of industrialization, the industrial buildings drive towards to the direction of super high-rise, large span and diversification. As a typical representative of the industrial buildings, the structure of steel awning needs to meet requirements of mechanical properties and special process. Therefore, spatial truss-arches and cylindrical reticulated shells have been widely used. With the span increasing, the structure of single types in common use exposes the limitation. Thus, hybrid structure springs up, which combines different kinds of single structural types, such as beam string structures, cable-arch structure and so on. The dry-coal shed in this article spans 200 meters, larger than general ones. According to the actual situation, the structure presented in this article is steel belt-arch structure, which imitates cable-stayed structure and uses steel belt to replace the cable. The combination of rigid arch structure and flexible steel belt urges it to achieve optimal mechanical properties, and riches the types of arch structure.This article intends to explore the constitution method and mechanical properties of steel belt-arch structure that consists of steel belt and spatial circular tube truss-arches. What’s more, the structure presented has potential to be developed into use of structure systems and types of arch structure. The concrete work is listed as follows:(1) Explore the steel belt-arch structure composition and then combine steel belt and spatial circular tube truss-arch into a relatively efficient structure. Select appropriate units and border terms to build finite element models of steel belt-arch structure with Midas Gen.(2) Analyse steel belt-arch structure and circular tube truss-arches structure of the same size, and have some comparison with their internal force distribution and displacement characteristics. And then explore the mechanical performance of steel belt-arch structure.(3) Geometrical nonlinear analysis of steel belt-arch structure is carried out in this paper,considering the different combination of dead load, live load, snow load, wind loads and temperature action, investigate the regularity of the support reaction, internal force distribution and displacement of the structure. Because of the possible change of the failure mode of large-span roof structure, it is necessary to compare the static behavior under full-span load and half-span load, respectively.(4) Make modal analysis to learn about the frequency, period, vibration characteristics and the stiffness distribution of steel belt-arch structure. Through the response spectrum analysis, find that the internal force of members under the horizontal earthquake or vertical earthquake is much lower than under the gravity load, which proves that in the 7 degree of second-class area, earthquake action does not play a controlling role.(5) The connection position of the steel belt-arch structure has an important effect on the mechanical properties. Considering three condition of the connection position, develop three finite element modes to take static and dynamic calculation and compare the performance variation when parameters change.(6) Explore rational connection of steel belt.
