Battery separator is an important working procedure in the manufacturing process of the battery. The PE separator is widely used in the battery industry with the characteristics of small aperture, high porosity, low resistance, high mechanical strength and so on. At present, use manual or semi mechanical method to achieve PE battery separator, low efficiency, large labor intensity in the semi mechanized method, which requires manual assistance for sealing, and the operator is easy to be hurt by the meshing parts, and the work is more dangerous.In order to reduce the labor intensity, and the risk of work, improve work efficiency, get higher quality of the battery separator. The paper designed a new PE battery separator wrapping machine, and analyze the wrapping machine and key components of PE separator, the main research work as follows:(1) The paper proposed a new scheme of battery separator wrapping machine. The wrapping machine is mainly composed of a feeding mechanism, a cutting knife mechanism, folding assembly, meshing component, material receiving mechanism etc. According to the performance requirements of battery separator wrapping machine and structure characteristics of the wrapping machine, chose step motor, cylinder, friction roller and other components. And do the evaluation.(2) Designed the virtual prototype on PE battery separator wrapping machine with Solid Works. The paper designed and modeled each part of the machine, according to the requirements of function and performance of the machine. Through the cooperation between the various parts, assembled the components into a complete machine, by the end of the virtual prototype of interference test and revise and improve.(3) The paper analyzed the key parts of the wrapping machine by ANSYS Workbench. Static stress analysis, the stress distribution analysis, and tested the strength to meet the design requirements, evaluated the reliability and stability of key parts and components of spindle parts of spindle and gear meshing, a mounting plate and other parts.
