Bio-asphalt is a new substitute of petroleum asphalt. As the advantages of bio-asphalt are environmentally friendly and economical, it has earned extensive attention. Different kinds of resource and processing method produce different bio-asphalt. The chemical composition and performance of each kind of bio-asphalt is different too. So study different kinds of bio-asphalt with different ways. This paper studied the blended and compound modification technology and mechanism of two kinds of bio-asphalt that were extracted in different ways. Then researchers evaluated the performance of asphalt and asphalt mixture. In the end, the paper analyzed the reason of the inferior performance of asphalt mixture with the help of chemical composition of bio-asphalt.Firstly, the paper researched the preparation technology and mechanism of the blended bio-asphalt and compound modified bio-asphalt. With the evaluation of the performance of different blended bio-asphalts, which were combined in different mixing condition, confirm the best preparation technology. Observe the change of different blended bio-asphalts under Atomic Force Microscopy(AFM), and confirm the mixing mechanism. Evaluate the performance of different compound modification bio-asphalts, which were modified with different contents of modifiers and different orders of modified condition. Choose the modified technology of the best compound modified bio-asphalt to be the final preparation technology.Secondly, the thesis evaluated the performance of petroleum asphalt, two kinds of blended bio-asphalt and two kinds of compound modified bio-asphalt. With the comparison of different asphalts’ temperature sensibility, ageing-resistant performance and viscosity-temperature performance etc., illustrate the influence of admixture with bio-asphalt and compound modification to the road performance of asphalt.Thirdly, researchers evaluated the performance of five kinds of asphalt mixture. With the comparison of different asphalt mixtures’ high temperature stability, low temperature crack resistance and moisture susceptibility, illustrate the advantage and disadvantage of blended and compound modified bio-asphalt mixtures. Moreover, to improve the asphalt mixture performance, the paper has given some suggestions.Finally, The thesis revealed the reason of the inferior performance of asphalt mixture by analyzing the manufacturing technique and chemical composition of two kinds of bio-asphalt.With the utilization of Element Analysis and Fourier Transform Infrared Spectrum(FTIR), the functional group and the possible content of different bio-asphalt could be gotten. To provide theoretical basis for the using of bio-asphalt in road engineering, evaluate the performance of bio-asphalt with the petroleum asphalt’s evaluation system.This thesis focuses on the research of the preparation technology and mechanism of the blended and compound modified bio-asphalt. In addition, evaluate the performance of asphalt, asphalt mixture, and prove the possibility of bio-asphalt used in road engineering.
