Comparative Research On The Space Design Of Chinese And American University Gymnasium

University gymnasium is the main way of urban sports consumption, with the gradual expansion of "Countrywide Fitness ", the hosting of large-scale events,related policies and the maturity of university sport education, Chinese universities sports projects tends to be diversified and the average area tends to be larger and larger. Meanwhile, the interior space of university gymnasium can’t meet all the demands of the increasing sports consumption. The way to improve the spatial quality of gymnasium, ease the contradiction between supply and demand, increase the average sports area and discover new model of gymnasium design came to be the new opportunities of the development of university gymnasium. Based on problems mentioned above, this article utilized American university gymnasium as the comparative object which has the characteristic of advanced sports career and sports building. By utilizing case study and software and data, the article illustrated the space design method of university gymnasium in two aspects, one is the design of sports space, the other is the design of assistant space, in order to provide inspiration for university gymnasium space design in our country.Combined with qualitative research methods, on the base of case study and document collection, the article firstly analysis the elements, factors and development model of university gymnasium, making a form theoretical foundation for the comparative research. Secondly, by analysis the question and software data, combined with quantitative and qualitative research and subjective and objective research, it made form quantitative foundation for the comparative research. Form the sports space and the assistant space, the article compared related design codes, the function and scale of space and the layout of the space, and came out with the similarities and differences of Chinese and American university gymnasium space design methods,and sum up the revelation of the American university gymnasium space design methods. The article closely connected with the development pause of Chinese university gymnasium, on the goal of improving the space quality of Chinese university gymnasium, by comparing with the American university gymnasium space design, and on the base of theoretical analysis and quantitive analysis, hoping to give some suggestions for the design of Chinese university gymnasium space design.
