With the popularization of electric vehicles, the scale and quantity of electric vehicle charging stations are increasing continuously. The proportion of the total load in the distribution network of the charging station is also increasing. The load of charging station has the characteristics of high spatial and temporal randomness, large load change rate and serious harmonic pollution. Not being monitored and controled, the charging station will seriously affect the power quality and reliability of distribution network, and bring more uncertainty to the management of distribution network. Therefore, the distribution network control center have to telecontrol communicate with the charging station to ensure the safe and stable operation of the distribution network and achieve the overall power quality optimization. The key of the telecontrol communication lies in establishing reasonable communication architecture and reliable remote communication terminal with standard communication model.IEC 61850 is the most comprehensive, standardized and unified power communication standard. The introduction of IEC61850 to distribution automation can simplify automation equipment’s configuration and maintenance. In order to meet the development trend of the application of IEC61850 in distribution network, this paper carries out research on electric vehicle charging station telecontrol communication system based on IEC 61850.This paper presents a telecontrol communication architecture that complies with IEC 61850 for electric vehicle charging station. Then design and develop the hardware and software of the charging station telecontrol communication terminal. Summarize the charging station telecontrol communication terminal’s information requirement. Then the telecontrol communication model is achieved through the use of logical nodes defined in IEC 61850-7-4 and IEC 61850-7-420. Finally, the communication architecture, telecontrol communication terminal and its communication model are verified on simulation platform. Result shows that the communication architecture, telecontrol communication terminal and its communication model is feasible.
