Currently car has entered every household, People pay more attention to safety performance of cars, according to statistics, 40% of accidents related to the steering system. The auto Electric Power Steering system(Electric Power Steering, referred EPS) is the mainstream of development direction of the automobile steering system. Electric Power Steering system is not only energy saving, simple structure, and can provide suitable steering assistance according to the vehicle speed and the steering state of the driver. Currently, the Electric Power Steering system has been studied more, but EPS of virtual experiments are relatively few studies. Virtual experiment platform can facilitate research EPS performance, increase research efficiency, reduce development costs.Steering test bench is studied in this paper, three-dimensional model test bench is established by UG software. Test bench three-dimensional model is introduced into ADAMS software, EPS multi-body dynamics model is established by adding the relevant constraints, contact and force. In accordance with the requirements of the test bench, Linear assist characteristic curve is selected as the electric power steering system booster characteristic curve, assist characteristic ratio is determined, Booster motor model is established by SIMULINK software. The electric power steering system of PID control system is set up, PID parameters are optimized by experiment. Multi-body dynamics model and control system model is connected, Mechatronics model is established. EPS co-simulation experiments were carried out relying on the model. Function experiment, input and output characteristics experiment, power-current characteristic experiment, steering agility experiment, steering stability experiment, the steering sensitivity experiments, reverse impact experiment and the steering wheel back to the positive experiment were carried out in accordance with the relevant standards of the automotive industry. The experimental results agree to the standards of the auto industry, the results can be used as EPS performance evaluation basis.
