The Exploring Of The Comprehensive Evaluation Method Of Urban Spacial Identity Based On Multi-Dimension

Since the reform and open up from 1980s, the urbanization of China has stepped into a stage of rapid development. While we are enjoying the convenience and happiness of modernization, people start to realize that cities which used to be various are becoming more and more similar. The missing of urban identity has become a crisis, for the traditional feature and urban landscape are occupied by the modernization. As the issue of urban identity has become a core problem during the development transformation, the planning of urban identity turned into an essential topic of urban planning.This dissertation starts from the rearrangement of definition, meaning, character of urban identity based on the study of theories and planning projects in China and abroad. After re-define urban identity, the thesis focuses on the spatial identity. Then, based on the research of theories, real cities, planning projects, the author summarizes the constitution of urban spatial identity, and proposes two basic attributions in evaluation. Finally, using modern comprehensive evaluation method as reference, this thesis proposes an evaluation system of urban spatial identity based on GIS, which can analyze the distribution and value of urban identity. This evaluation system combines urban ecology, traditional culture, modern development, city activity etc together, seeking to propose an evaluation system of different value dimensions and multilayer.By using the research method of questionnaire, document retrieval, interview, field research, the author adopt AHP, Delphi analysis, fuzzy comprehensive evaluation to value and select the factor. After establishing an evaluation system based on GIS, the author takes Nanjing as an example of simulation and evaluation. Then the author expresses the result by entirety and multi dimension comprehensive evaluation graphics, seeking to propose a visual and concise way of presentation.Finally, the author applies this evaluation system into a practical project called Zhenjiang Master Urban Design, that provides a result of evaluation and analysis which becomes the basis of the protection and development of urban identity in Zhenjiang. Based on the result, the author provides some solution and suggestion of urban design.
