Brushless DC motor (BLDCM) is a new type of permanent magnet machine, and it has a rapid progress with the development of power electronic technique and new kind of permanent magnet material. The BLDCM has not only good characteristics of speed regulation as traditional DC motor, but also many advantages such as the simple structure, high efficiency, low noise and long service life. The BLDCM has been widely applied in many fields such as the industrial, military and civil, etc. At the same time, because of the requirement of power energy quality in the power system, the power factor correction has received the increasing attention in the motor control system.Firstly, the structure and operation principles of brushless DC motor control system and the control method of brushless DC motor are introduced in this thesis. According to the control characteristics of the BLDCM system, one cycle control type Boost APFC is adopted as the PFC main circuit topology and control method for the brushless DC motor control system. On the basis of the operation principle analysis of one cycle control type Boost APFC technology, the power factor correction circuit using one cycle control chips IR1155 is designed.Secondly, according to the BLDCM control system in this thesis, the switching power supply is designed. It is based on the power supply chip TOP223Y, and the single end flyback type is adopted.The control system is proposed using the digital signal controller dsPIC16F1933 in this thesis, which includes the rectifier, inverter, voltage current detection module, etc.Finally, the control system of brushless DC motor by using PFC is tested, the experiments, including the contrast of the grid current, efficiency, speed and power factor tests, are done. The results show that the BLDCM control system has good operation stability and high efficiency. Its power factor is greater than 0.99. The experimental results verified the correctness and feasibility of the design scheme.
