With the continuous improvement of living standards, the wheelchair has been brought greatly convenience for the old and physically disabled persons to travel. But ordinary wheelchairs can only move on the ground road, they can not pass through the obstacles such as stairs and barriers. It can not meet the needs of old and physically disabled persons. In view of this situation this paper introduces an electric wheel-legged stair climbing wheelchair, which has multiple functions can effectively make up the deficiency of present wheelchairs’ function.If the wheelchair has no special mechanism for adjusting the seat position when it is climbing stairs, it is bound to cause the problem of seat tilt. In order to improve the wheelchair user’s comfort and safety, seat position regulating mechanism will be used to solve the problem of seat tilt at any time. In this paper the main work is the design of seat position regulating mechanism, kinematics analysis and establishment of the virtual prototype model to verify the kinematics analysis.1. Analyzed and compared with the existing institution’s characteristics and shortcomings, on the basis of the wheelchair this paper determines the forms of adjusting mechanism, analyzes and designs it.2. Aiming at the attitude regulating mechanism needs seat recliner changing mechanism freedom,this paper uses the function means tree to produces the scheme,then detailed design and analyze it.3. On the seat height regulation and angle regulation condition, the kinematics model of attitude regulation mechanism is established, by using MATLAB software the kinematics simulation is carried on. We get the movement rule of seat plane and cross four pole when the mechanism is regulating the angle or height and analyze the simulation curve. Then through the establishment of a virtual prototype model in UG software, the simulation of virtual prototype model verifies the correctness of the mathematical model.
