Aviation industry is the reflection of comprehensive national power and the important guarantees of national defense security, while the aircraft tooling design and manufacturing as well as ground examination are the foundation of successful development of aircrafts. However, the advanced mechatronic tooling still belongs to the initial stage in our aviation industry, and there are very few referenced instances of mechatronic test tooling at home and abroad.Firstly, This article discusses domestic and foreign development of aircrafts manufacturing tooling technology, and uses three-slotted outboard flaps of a certain type of aircraft as research subject, conducts research on the outboard flaps structure, the scheme of connection assembly tooling, the content and sequence of connection assembly, the coordination parts and methods of connection assembly, connection test tooling and the design scheme of connection test bench. Secondly, according to the structure design, control design, selection of servo system of control system as well as software design in the outboard flaps connection assembly process, it also combines machine design and automatic control technology effectively, and simulates the motion state of outboard flaps during the flight and landing. This process aims to test installation tolerances and flexibility of movement after connection assembly, which could be used to replace the movement of original outboard flaps and provide a kind of mechatronic connection test tooling before the formal installation of outboard flaps. Finally, in order to optimize the tooling structure and improve the economical performance as well as cut the development cost, the software for strength analysis named ABAQUS is applied to check the strength and rigidity of main load-bearing part and vulnerable connection part in the connection test bench.According to technical evaluation of relevant specific requirements as well as a series of data comparison between experimental value and theoretical value, such as assembly clearance data of each outer flap component in the first test, synchronous data of outer flap control point, inspection data of linkage flexibility, gap data between block pin and each moving parts and joint inspection data, it can be seen that the connection test bench of outer flap designed in this paper is reasonable and feasible.Based on the design and analysis of outboard flaps connection test bench of a certain type of aircraft, this article has studied the design concept and method of new type of mechatronic tooling in the modern aircraft manufacturing process. The results provide project examples and references for mechatronic examination equipment, and that could be applied and extended in the following models of aircrafts. All of this has important practical significance to improve the manufacturing capacity of aircrafts in the fields of digitization, automation, flexibility and modularization.
