With the continuous expansion of industrial production scale and more and the increase of freight volume, the development of Marine transit platform has important significance to ease the pressure on marine transportation and promote the exploitation of island resources and the port trade. As the main equipment for bulk material transportation, belt conveyor is always operating at the rated speed and rated power when the volume of materials changes during working process, which results in energy waste and the increase of production costs. According to the change of the material transportation volume, a regulating system for the drive motor power of belt conveyor is designed. Research on regulating technique for the drive motor power has theoretical significance and practical value.Based on the analysis of the relationship between the total power of conveyor, the conveyor belt speed and the material volume, a control scheme which adjusting the motor power according to the change of the material transportation volume is proposed, in order to achieve the purpose of adjusting the drive motor speed and the drive motor power.To reduce the impact of belt conveyor start, the soft-starter of the drive motor of belt conveyor is analyzed; According to the basic parameters and control requirements of belt conveyor on Marine transit platform, a regulating system for the drive motor power of belt conveyor is designed,combined with the slave computer PLC and host computer PC. The system monitoring interface in host computer PC is designed, and the controller for regulating the drive motor power of belt conveyor is developed by fuzzy algorithm and LabVIEW. Simulation mode of the fuzzy controller is established in MATLAB and the control effect is analyzed; the drive motor control program is designed in S7-300 PLC,and the Ethernet data communication of host and slave computer is realized via the OPC technology of LabVIEW in host computer.The experimental results show that the relative error of adjusting conveyor belt speed is less than 0.8% and absolute error is less than0.05m/s, which indicates that the system can accurately adjust the motor power to control the conveyor belt speed according to the change of material volume. Obvious energy saving effect is achieved with the analysis results that the power loss is reduced by 16.57%. The system can effectively complete the motor power regulation, and realize the function of energy saving and reduce consumption.
