| The research of ionic liquids can be traced back to 1914. With scientists’ research of nearly one century, ionic liquid has become a popular new materials for negligible volatility, non-flammability, high thermal stability, low melting point, and conductivity. Currently, Ionic liquid has been widely applied as catalysts, lubricants, solvents, etc. Furthermore, the stable guanidine compounds have been considered to be a new generation of ionic liquid and could be used in many fields. This essay will mainly introduce the related research progress of ionic liquid, as well as do research about the tribological properties of guanidinium ionic as friction pair lubricant for steel/alumminum and steel/copper. It will introduce related research work mainly through the following two aspects:1. The research review of tribology properties of guanidinium ionic liquids will be provided. Specifically, this essay will elaborate respectively about the research progress of ionic liquids, the lubricating mechanism of ionic liquid as a lubricant, the current research situation of organic guanidinium ionic liquid, and tribology properties of the steel/steel friction pair, etc.2. The research about tribology properties of guanidinium ionic towards the friction pair lubricant for steel/alumminum and steel/copper. Firstly, two kinds of guanidinium ionic liquids have been synthesized. Through the approach of repeated point friction, SRV friction testing machine has been applied to measure the tribology properties of synthetic guanidinium ionic liquids as lubricant towards steel ball/aluminum plate and steel ball/tin bronze plate friction pair respectively. Meanwhile, it has been compared with alkyl imidazole ionic liquids and lquid paraffin. Moreover, by scanning the electron microscope, its grinding spot morphology could be observed, and its lubrication mechanism could be analyzed through X-ray photo-electron spectrometer. The results show that synthetic guanidinium ionic liquid has the best performance of lubricating effect compared with all of other lubricants in this test, and complex chemical reactions have occurred during the sliding process. |
