Metro system has become the most important transportation in Shanghai and other cities. Most studies on human thermal comfort focus on summer days. Researches on winter are few, the researches on the thermal comfort of metro coaches in winter are even more rare. Most studies on human thermal comfort focus on summer days. Researches on winter are few; the researches on the thermal comfort of metro coaches in winter are even less. However, in the entire metro system, the coaches are exactly the area that people stay for the longest. This paper completed the field measurements for 4 working days in the coaches of the typical elevated line 3 and underground line 9 in January 2015. We obtain the four environmental factors that affect the human body thermal comfort: dry bulb temperature, relative humidity, black ball temperature, wind speed. With all the data above, this paper analyze the real thermal environment in coaches in winter with detail. Learn much about the inner thermal environment in different lines and different time of a line. Find the real law of thermal environment parameters of the metro coaches when running. And also this study has the reference significance for other similar metro lines in other cities. When measuring on the spot, this paper gained 779 questionnaires on the thermal comfort and air quality at the same time. Combining field measurement with subjective survey, get the neutral temperature, expected temperature of the passengers on line 3 and line 9; also get the operating temperature range accepted by 80% people and different feelings and expectations of temperature on the two lines; find that gender has less impact to thermal comfort of passengers than the nature of the lines. This paper find that decreasing the air conditioning design temperature in winter of metro coches can not only meet the demand of human thermal comfort, but also it can save energy consumption of air conditioning, but adjustments should distinguish between the ground and underground lines with different properties; People in the metro coaches can adapt to the environment, especially in such a special environment, people has stronger ability to adapt and endure the environment; And ASHRAE thermal comfort standard about indoor rooms can’t completely be used to evaluate thermal comfort of metro coaches. In the end, by analyzing the results of subjective survey of air environment, this paper find the passengers’ awareness of environmental factors on metro and the difference between different gender, The metro operator should increase the new air volume appropriately to meet and adhere to the temperature control; Get the subjective feeling of passengers for the air quality in metro and the complaint about air environment in line 3and line 9. Find out that situation of SBS infection in the metro is closely related with TSV and HSV of passengers, as the degree of thermal or humid feeling to the environment is increased, the incidence of SBS symptoms will increase. SBS will increase when people are in a rigorous environment with a bad thermal sensation and humidity sensation. The data we collect from the filed investigation about thermal environment in metro coaches and questionnaire survey about thermal comfort and air quality has been recorded into CDs, these data combined with the conclusion we got can support the establishment of environmental standards, and can support the improvement in metro operation conditions.
