Mid-Block Street Crossing is always set up in the urban road section demanding for road crossing. Aggravating the contradiction between pedestrian traffic and vehicles, causing the traffic congestion, and intensifying the insecurity of pedestrian, the unreasonable setup of Mid-Block Street Crossing needs to be revised. To solve this practical problem preferably, this article analyzes the site of cross-passage and method of setting up reasonable gap.This article, expounding the pedestrian crossing facilities designing process and discussing the location and spacing setup of cross-passage, focuses on setup of site and gap of the cross-passage. Moreover, based on the field study, this essay elaborately analyzes the character of pedestrian traffic, gives a determination on values of pedestrian crossing speed, horizontal width, and gap acceptance, studies the influences on pedestrian due to the spacing of pedestrian crossing from the aspects of arrival rate and acceptable bypassing distance, and investigates the discreteness and driving time of vehicle flow, at same time, gives a research on the influence—the congestion of pedestrian crossing and vehicle speed—in the vehicle flow. Additionally, based on the analysis on the influence, of pedestrian crossing distance, in pedestrian and vehicle flow, this article studies the influence in traffic capacity and LOS of vehicle lane and cross-passage. Consequently, on the basis of character of pedestrian and vehicle traffic, this essay proposes a calculating method of reasonable distance of Mid-Block Street Crossing, considering that the pedestrian flow and vehicle flow are less than each design capacity, that the bypassing distance is acceptable, and that the vehicle traveling speed is not less than the design LOS, and calculates the range of reasonable distance of Mid-Block Street Crossing in finale together with the calculation case.The result possesses certain reference meaning to how to take the value of reasonable distance of Mid-Block Street Crossing in urban traffic design.
