Bamboo is a kind of green environmental protection building materials, it has a broad development prospects in the field of civil engineering construction. Bamboo plywood, which is the mainly products of bamboo, have been widely used in vehicles, construction, shipbuilding and other fields, but the current research of bamboo plywood used in composite bridge panel is still in its infancy. In recent years, our country developed a new type of laminated bamboo plywood structure, which arranged many bamboo plywood in vertical direction, and used prestressing tendon to tension them together. The bamboo plywood-concrete composite bridge panels, which can effectively improve the stress of the concrete bridge deck, is based of laminated bamboo plywood and combine concrete on the top. The research for wood-concrete composite structure has been quite mature in foreign countries, and bamboo plywood has the similar physical and mechanical properties with wood, so the study of bamboo plywood-concrete composite bridge panel can take example from overseas research for wood-concrete composite structure.The most important problem to be resolved for research of bamboo plywood-concrete composite bridge panel is the interface connection problems. The stand or fall of connection directly determines the mechanical properties of composite structures, so this article mainly focuses on the design and mechanical properties of shear connector for bamboo plywood-concrete composite bridge panel. This study used the form of bamboo-concrete-bamboo test species with PBL connector, which is putting some of the bamboo plywood interspersed with rebar into concrete.The research object of this paper is the shear connector of bamboo plywood-concrete composite bridge panel. The mainly experimental study work is followed as:1) Literature reading, and sorting of Bamboo’s physical and mechanical properties.In this paper, a lot of foreign research paper studying shear connectors for wood-concrete composite structures have been read before the study, combined with the research of PBL connectors for steel-concrete composite structures, three kinds of B-PBL shear connector for unidirectional bamboo plywood-concrete composite bridge panel were proposed. The physical and mechanical properties of bamboo used in this paper are adopted from research papers made by Ma Xueyuan and others.2) Numerical simulations of experiments for three kinds of B-PBL connector test species in ABAQUS.For the proposed three kinds of B-PBL connector for bamboo plywood-concrete composite bridge panel, finite element model for simulating the test were established in ABAQUS. The ultimate bearing capacity and rigidity of shear slip for three kinds of B-PBL connector were obtained through calculating, which not only provide a reference for choosing test instrument and deciding specimen size, but also can estimate the damage type of all specimens may occur.3) Experimental study for three kinds of B-PBL connector test species.According to the fixed size, all test species were made and been tested. The test studies the ultimate bearing capacity; relative slip and damage form for three kinds of B-PBL connector specimens, so as to get the shear bearing capacity and slip modulus of three B-PBL connectors, and compare with the results given by finite element model.4) Numerical simulations of B-PBL connector for two-way bamboo plywood-concrete composite bridge panel in ABAQUS.Based on the analysis of unidirectional bamboo plywood-concrete finite element model and the test results, two-way bamboo plywood-concrete composite structure model used B-PBL connector is established to make deeply research, which is analyzing the influence of changing bamboos’ material characteristics; changing connect bar diameter; increasing connect bamboo thickness and notch depth for bearing capacity and slip modulus of corresponding specimen.If bamboo plywood itself is not under the condition of shear failure, three kinds of B-PBL connector are showing very high bearing capacity and shear modulus. The test research shows that we should not use unidirectional bamboo plywood in bamboo plywood-concrete composite bridge panel, and should be changed to use two-way bamboo plywood.
