The Design Of A Portable Brake Performance Tester

Automobile braking performance is a ability that a car can stop within the prescribed time and distance. Especially in the emergency braking or there was a dangerous situation, the braking performance has a direct relationship with the driver’s life. So automotive testing is significant for ensuring traffic safety. In order to meet the need of the development of China’s automobile industry,the automobile testing equipment in our country has been developing constantly. A series of related regulations have been issued to regulate and promote the development of automobile testing.This paper analyzes the development situation of automobile braking performance test equipment. On the basis of the automobile braking process and the related national standards, this paper design a portable brake performance tester.The method of Automobile braking performance testing mainly includes the road test and bench test. In this paper, the design of the portable brake performance tester belongs to road test.According to the GB7258-2012(Safety specifications for power-driven vehicles operating on roads),the automobile brake performance is evaluated by the braking distance, average speed, and braking coordination time.First,the paper simulates the automobile braking process in the environment of Matlab, Analyzes the changing of the various parameters in the process of automobile braking and the effect of the testing environment on the automobile braking. According to the requirement, the paper chooses the Freescale three-axis acceleration sensor as collection element and selects ADC0809 as A/D converter. The control system consists of the combination of microcontrollers and FPGA. The system completes the FIR filter and Integral operation by FPGA. After the automobile braking parameters are calculated by standard rules, the measurement results will be displayed on the screen.
