It has a long history in Guanzhong region,Shaanxi Province.Its unique culture type is shaped by both its geographical circumstance and historical culture.As a physical carrier of its traditional culture,Guanzhong vernacular housing is the nature utilization and remarking for local residents during the time of historical evolution.Under the background of convergence on urban space and architectural form,promoting local excellent architectural culture,recovering regional place spirit,is the is bounden responsibility for contemporary.However, tradition is the product of the past.Tradition inevitably produces many contradictions when it makes conversation in tradition and modern.Function of the adapter, mechanical properties of materials,forms of modern spirit,is the biggest problem to inherit architectural tradition on Guanzhong residential buildings.Therefore, for the purpose of traditional protection and continuation for the guanzhong residential house, based on the deep understanding of inner gene and outer characteristics of guanzhong residential house,this paper study on the inheritance and innovation model on traditional dwelling houses building.This paper firstly embarks from internal genes which influence the guanzhong residential housing, through the analysis of the natural elements, the cultural elements and technical elements,discusses its decisive role about shape evolution,settlement patterns,plane layout,spacestructure,architectural style,construction paradigm,ecological technology and sculpture art.Secondly, through investigation, summarized external characteristics:surround and symmetric of plane layout,narrow and clear level of spaceform,conciseness and vulgar of architectural style,exquisite workmanship and rich connotation of sculpture art.Thirdly,in the perspective of developing adaption relationship,putting forward the mode of inheritance and innovation on Guanzhong residential housing:the contemporary development of space form,the contemporary interpretation of traditional materials,the contemporary translation of architectural form,and sum up into three tendencies:the inheritance of features and textures,the reconstruction of traditional factor,the construction of culture connotation.Finally, the paper validated by three projects cases to illustrate three tendencies,and demonstrated the feasibility and applicability of inheritance and innovation model.This paper starts from the formation factor and external characteristic,sums up four models of inheritance and innovation on space,materials,forms and architectural technology,defines the inheritance sources and innovation directions,and it aims to provide some reference for the study of the theory and creation reference in inheritance and innovation.
