At the beginning of 2014, China put forward "Speed up the transformation of urbanization development on the premise of ensuring the quality" by strategic level. This measure will further make institutional change become an active intervention and guidance of new urbanization, in a way of promoting the economy and social development through a series of space evolution. Shunde as a urbanization pioneer of the Pearl River Delta region, its spatial development mode is faced with a problem that its development mode change from growing traditionally and in slow spontaneous to the mode of developing by country policy regulation and planning guidance. Its formation has a profound and unique system background, meanwhile the characteristics of a region of rivers and lakes form evolution also reflected from and between the top-down path and mutual conflict and coordination of the development logic. Excessive pursuit of economic growth of urbanization reflects low "quantity" high "quality" of high sprawl in space form. And extensive growth is lack of geographical features, ecological consciousness and humanistic care, which is unsustainable obviously. How to seek the internal relation between institution change and water morphology is the research purpose of this paper.Taking Shunde as an example, this paper mainly research on evolution of water features morphology of Shunde since 1978. Based on the Pearl River Delta town of relevant institutional combing and specific research and data analysis, regarding of the institutional change of Shunde region characteristic morphological evolution stage division and its characteristic analysis, induce variable development general rule and the adaptation process and mechanism of institutional change cycle. This paper is divided into six chapters. The first chapter: introduction about the research background, significance, perspective, contents, methods and related research. Sorted out theoretical research methods between city morphology and institution change, especially how these methods apply to practical research evolution of Shunde characteristic form. It comes to this paper based on the analysis of the research methods and research framework as above. The second chapter: analyse the formation and morphological characteristics of Shunde traditional village of its settlement, as a form of basal research. The third chapter : sort out the national urban and rural system from top to bottom, from top to bottom of the local urban and rural system and bottom-up self-organizing system, conclude three stages of the system of urban and rural development since 1978.The fourth chapter: corresponding mentioned above in three stages, with urban morphology as the theoretical foundation, through a combination of quantitative and qualitative methods, focus on morphological evolution characteristics respectively from years 1978-1992, 1992-2001 and 2001-2015.The fifth chapter: the characteristics and forms of Shunde water village were summarized by three aspects:the morphological structure, morphological structure and morphological unit. The sixth chapter: according to the above matching between the urban and rural institutional change stage and the morphological evolution stage, combing out their relationship within the three cycle adaptation process in years 1978-1992, 1992-2001, 2001-2015.In this paper, the systematic study on evolution and dynamic mechanism of water Features morphology of Shunde since 1978. Follow institution change and morphological evolution of the internal relation and look forward to a high urbanization pattern provided with regional characteristics in the future.
