Floating breakwaters have been used in more and more sea areas and an increasing number of ocean engineering projects because of their favorable features like easily built, low construction fees and convenience in installation. And it also can ensure a good exchange of seawater. The project of installation for a certain kind of floating breakwater is discussed in this thesis. The project includes rolling over the floating breakwater, solution for locating, solution for dropping anchor and plan for installing the rubber rings.Due to the fact that floating breakwaters are towed to working sea area, they need to be rolled over at site. In premise of ensuring the safety of rolling over we want to cut down the cost as much as possible. Therefore, large lifting equipment like floating crane is not recommended. The plan for rolling over is to pump water into one of the buoy making it lose stability and then pump out the water along with pulling. So the installing process includes(1) rolling over(2) positioning(3) mooring the floating breakwaters(4) installing the cable(5) installing the rubber ring. And the rolling over and mooring are very important to the installation process.To safely roll over the floating breakwater research on the plan with numerical simulation and model experiment. Firstly using Maxsurf to build the numerical model and conducting simulation with the help of Hydromax. Through adjusting the amount of ballast water we manage to simulate the floating condition of the breakwater. The numerical simulation verifies the feasibility of this rolling over plan and provides suggestions for the model experiment. Based on the numerical simulation we move on to designing and making the model. Conduct the experiment after carrying out appropriate experiment plan. The scale model experiment verifies the feasibility again and supplies us with suggestions for actual practice of rolling over the breakwater. A strength check for the mesh structure of the breakwater is needed due to the solution for exerting external force during rolling. We use FEA software to conduct the check and adjust external force exerting plan.At last research and make locating plan, plan for dropping anchors and installing the rubber rings between floating breakwaters.
