| This paper’s research background is based on the floating breakwater project of ZhaoShu island in the South China Sea.In this paper, the conceptual design plan of the asymmetrical floating breakwater is proposed and the performance analysis of the asymmetrical floating breakwater is the main issue. This paper focuses on the interaction of two-dimension floating bodies and waves based on the linear potential theory and develops the numerical calculation program with the method of boundary element, which is used to analyze the performance of floating breakwaters.we propose the concept of energy-capturing device and motion-damping outside, and study the issue of wave absorption and utilization of wave energy by floating unit, revealing the advantages of the asymmetrical floating unit in wave absorption and utilization.Inspired by above, the paper proposes the design plan of “F” floating breakwater. With the TMA irregular wave spectrum according to the local marine environment of ZhaoShu island in the South China Sea and the numerical calculation program,we discuss the influence of breadth and draft on the performance of the F floating breakwater. We have done the experiment of the F floating breakwater model in the fixed state, the single-mode heave state and the free state with hinge joint. At the same time, the model’s equation of motion in waves has been derived, and the experiment of the model has been simulated with the numerical method. The experiment data are in reasonable agreement with the result of numerical calculation. What’s more, the F floating breakwater model with damping plates attached in the single-mode heave state and the free state with hinge joint in the incident regular waves has been done.Through the observation of the experiment,we discover that it obviously improves performance of the floating breakwater model when a number of damping plates fixed on the model where is close to the free surface of facing the wave side and far away from the free surface in the back of the wave,in addition, the performance relates to the breadth of the damping plates. |
