Design Of Theme Square Based On The Regional Characteristics

City Square as the city’s image portal, which reflects the history, culture and charm of the city, is the most important carrier to display the city’s regional characteristics. People living in the city pay more attention to create an open public space, the construction of city square is upsurging. Due to the impact of globalization, under the influence of western culture, regional culture gradually assimilated in the communication process, so that each city regional features gradually disappeared, and the cities are becoming more and more similar. Then more and more similar city squares appeared, and the domestic and foreign outstanding square landscape theme square were copied in an endless way. Although the variety of city square is increasing, but design of city square cannot integrate into the local geographical environment without the support of theory. People cannot find their own sense of belonging in the theme square landscape which lack of the regional characteristics.So, how to integrate the theme square space with regional characteristics into landscape design, how to balance regional features and modernization is the issue involved in this study, is the problem Chinese cities are facing which urgently needs to be soluted.Therefore, we need to learn and absorb the world’s advanced culture and technology, but also to pursue the protection of regional characteristics, regeneration and creation. In fact, protection of the diversity of regional characteristics, is the need of human development. We should create a regional theme square, recover square its original meaning, restore the intrinsic logic relations between square and the host city, which make the true city square become where the urban regional characteristics embodied, displaying the city’s image.Analyzing the current problems in the city theme squares from the regional perspective, trying to explore a square landscape design method to preserve and extend the regional characteristics, so as to understand the purpose and significance of city design at a deeper level. Integrating the theory of regional characteristics and theme square from understanding layer, exploring the relationship between the regional characteristics and geographical characteristics and the theme square in the theme square in theory. From the aspect of method, analyzing the expression of city square landscape design of regional characteristics. And a representative example is given to verify the importance of the combination of regional features and modern theme square. Finally, combining with the design practice, put forward the feasible scheme to solve the problem of the theme square design with regional characteristics from the design level, in order to give reference for the practice in the future.
