Water is one of the important components to a human body and the quality of drinking water is directly related to the physical health of human beings. Considering the existing problems of urban water supply and the development status of the pipe direct drinking water in China, in order to explore the purification and disinfection technology of the pipe direct drinking water system with obvious purification effects, quick disinfection effects and nontoxic byproducts, according to the practical experiences of the author in design, installation and operation of pipe direct drinking water system, this paper analyzes the advantages and disadvantages of three common disinfection technologies, four pre-treatment units and four membrane technologies of pipe direct drinking water system, studies three common combination process of pipe direct drinking water and their scope of application and other features. The paper also points out that the RO membrane separation technology has the best purification effects, which with wide scope of application, small porosity of filter membrane and other advantages, it is applicable to the filtration and purification process design of pipe direct drinking water system. Meanwhile, the paper also points out the UV is suitable for the disinfection process design of pipe direct drinking water system, characterized by fast disinfection, nontoxic byproducts and other features.The pipe direct drinking water equipment system of this research subject was newly assembled according to the water quality features of the tap water in a middle school, The purification effects of RO equipment and disinfection effects of UV are studied and analyzed by RO-UV integrated process. For the RO purification technology, the test results showed that the removal rate of turbidity, conductivity, COD and bacteria of water that was filtered by ultrafilter is up to 82%, 98%, 36% and 95% respectively; at the same time, the removal rate of turbidity, conductivity, COD and total number of bacteria of raw water is up to 97%, 98%, 75% and 99% respectively. On the other hand, if the test under certain flow velocity, the disinfection effects of direct drinking water by UV sterilizer are in direct proportion to the power and no significant relationship to the bacteria number of incoming water. The bacteria removal rate of direct-drinking water by UV-80 W both the water supply and return pipe is 99% and 98% respectively. The final experimental results of water quality show that the produced water purified by RO and sterilized by UV can meet and even be better than the standard of nation Water Quality for Drinking Water(CJ2005) although the tap water that is not up to the standard, it means that the RO-UV combination process is not only practical but also effective, it can provides valuable technical references to water treatment industry in promoting and applying pipe direct drinking water technology.
