Study On The Ancient Resident Gardens’ Landscape Of Huizhou

The ancient residences are the largest number of “Huizhou Three Wells”, and are closely to everyday life and entertainment, leisure activities of the ancient people in Huizhou. Under influence of Hui-culture. Ancient residences created uniquely rich historical culture with its unique emotional life, patriarchal conscious, regional style and art form, and it showed the trend of gardening in pursuit of plain, elegant, relaxed living environment.The ancient resident gardens of Huizhou refer to the courtyard or green space surrounded by the resident buildings and complete gardening environment inside of the residence.it’s the garden type which is most closely linked to the daily lives of ancient Huizhou,and also the pristine of Huizhou’s gardens. Because of the unique natural and geographical environment of Huizhou and strengthening on the family clan system and Confucian ethics that maked the ancient resident gardens produce the culture style which is different from the Suzhou gardens and other south classical gardens of China. It is structured to pursuing rigorous and embodies the orderly and honesty of the Confucian ethics, focusing on the performance of the order’s art under manual control and containing “ethics”everywhere. This unique garden style was achieved by means of spatial layout and configuration of landscape. The ancient residence gardens with beautiful scenery and rich cultural heritage as a source of inspiration not only embody the ethical principles of ancient human life and the inner structure of the landscape elements, but also reveal its inherent deep-seated cultural spiritual and aesthetic value.The ancient resident gardens of Huizhou is a non-renewable cultural landscape, reflecting the unique history, social and cultural background of Huizhou. This paper conducted research on the ancient residence gardens of Huizhou regions and part areas of south of Anhui which with the same root, through the survey and mapping of the ancient resident gardens of Hongcun,Xidi,PingShan,Nanping and other villages, aiming at exploring the landscape arts and characteristics. First, the first part is the introduction of related concepts; The second part reviews the historical process of ancient resident Gardens, and analyzes its background; The third part explores the spatial layout features from spatial composition, spatial processing techniques and spatial analysis of the formation; The fouth part discusses the ancient residenct garden’s landscape elements from water, rocks, construction and decoration, flowers and bonsai; The fifith part discusses the deep-seated cultural connotations behind the space; Finally, the article discusses the revelation of ancient residence garden’s landscape features on the landscape planning and design of modern living.It not only helps deepen people’s understanding of ancient resident gardens and enrich the research system of Huizhou gardening,but also provides theoretical guidance for the planning and designing of the modern living landscape.However,Huizhou’s resident gardens are products of the feudal caste system,so today the so-called “dual-level” refers to inheriting its essence and abandoning its dross.
