Mechanical hemming is currently the most widely used hemming process, its quality directly affects the connection strength and appearance quality of the auto body. Lifting mechanism is an important part of hemming machine system, so the study and optimization of lifting mechanism has important practical value.In this paper, the kinematics and dynamics theory, dynamics simulation, finite element technology as the basic method, according to the working principles of hemming machine lifting mechanism design an eight-rod lifting mechanism, then the parameter and quality of lifting mechanism are optimized to improve overall performance. The main research content and related results are as follows:(1) Structural composition of the hemming machine is introduced; quality defect types and factors influencing the quality of hemming are researched. Study hemming machine works for the design of the lifting mechanism to lay the foundation.(2) According to the working characteristics of lifting mechanism, to design six-rod and eight-rod two lifting mechanisms. Parametric modeling in ADAMS, then kinematics simulation is implemented. Comparing motion characteristic curves and increase libido of the lifting mechanism, the conclusion that the eight-rod lifting mechanism is better than six-rod lifting mechanism. Eight-rod lifting mechanism is determined as the main object of follow-up study and optimization.(3) Kinematic analysis of lifting mechanism by method of analytical, through building position equation obtains the motion parameters for each component. On this basis, calculate the motion parameters at the centroid, inertial force and inertia moment to create a dynamic model for static analysis. Finally, the dynamic model of eight-rod lifting mechanism is built with Lagrange method.(4)The coordinate of hinged joints as the design variables, the minimum amount of speed fluctuation as optimization goal, adding related constraints, optimize and design the structure of the lifting mechanism to get more reasonable structural parameters. Under the condition of meeting the job requirements, the quality of the triangle is reduced by topology optimization.
