The steam turbo-generator is the heart of a thermal power plant and at the same time is the key equipment to achieve energy conversion. If the turbo-generator cannot work reliably, it may easily lead a direct result of generator and power system splitting, which will affect the safe and stable operation of power grid and turbo generator seriously. A reasonable set of control parameters of generator excitation system is important to the voltage and stability control of power system. The stable operation of generator excitation system is helpful to improve the security and stability of power system.In this paper, debugging of a 600 MW turbine generator is used as an example to research the contents and main points of electrical debugging for large steam turbine generator factory. It takes a deep dive into the structure characteristics, modeling principles and debugging steps of excitation system. The experimental results of excitation system under no load and grid condition are presented respectively and it finally obtains the most effective parameters settings. This paper also investigates the whole start-up and debugging steps of electrical test, and the experiment data of generator set under short-circuit, no load and grid condition is provided as well.Finally, this paper summarizes some common fault reasons during the debugging and start-up process, and puts forward some corresponding measures at the same time.
