The Comparison Study On The Ecological Remediation And Landscape Reconstruction Of Brownfield In China And The US

The brownfield problem is a serious issue in the urban development. This article presents the analysis on the causes of urban brownfields and their detrimental impacts. It underlines the importance of the urban brownfields ecosystem remediation and landscape reconstruction in terms of solving land shortage and the ecological crisis. In order to research the solutions to the domestic brownfield landscape remediation, this article studies and analyzes the brownfields restoration projects that are either completed or under construction locate in China or the US; particularly in industrial brownfield, commercial brownfield, residential brownfields and public brownfields. It enumerates and analyzes the similarities and differences between China and the US, in respect of brown field definition; history, current status and restoration idea of urban brownfields; technology and design methodology. Based on the similarities and differences, the article searches for sustainable ways, discusses innovative modes of brownfield restoration in China.
