Energy saving of distribution network has always been a constant goal in electric power systems. Since 1987 the reform and opening up, Chinese power demand has been keeping a rapid growth, our power grids developed rapidly too. The primary task of power grids developing is to make sure safety, stability and high quality electric supply. Under the background of the development, our present energy saving method has’t been a proven technique. Most of our engineer don’t have an overallunderstanding of energy saving in distribution network.they cant make the plan and execute the saving solution forwardly.On the other hand,they only pay attention to some sort of energy-saving equipment, and ignore solutions in planning and operation.Combining with the characteristics of the above, this article start a research from the following several aspects:Fist, have a research of equivalent circuit of typical equipment and analysis composition of network power loss. Then have a research of primary cause of big power loss,and come forward some typical energy saving solution pointedly.Second, come forward a load curve fitting method to calculate the reactive compensationrequirements, and have a detailed introduction of application of genetic algorithm in reactive power compensation planning.Finally, built upon the energy-saving solution, come forward a distribution network voltage and reactive power level-3 coordination control method, make a detailed introduction of the main function and principle of the system.
