Drainage pumping station is responsible for transporting urban sewage, industrial waste water and storm water to downstream river water treatment facilities, and it’s the hub of urban drainage system normal operation. It is an important guarantee for the modern city’s safe operation to scientifically design, construct, operate and manage the urban drainage pumping stations.Urban drainage pumping stations have the typical features of spatial distribution. In the field of urban planning, construction of drainage facilities, as well as dispatching of flood and waterlogging prevention, the spatial information of drainage pumping stations is required. Therefore, in the management of urban drainage pumping station, GIS technology has been widely used.WebGIS is becoming the mainstream GIS applications because of its good scalability and cross-platform characteristics. Open source WebGIS software, which is collaborative development, low cost, open source code and other characteristics, has become one of the effective methods of WebGIS application development.In this paper, aimed at meeting the needs of spatial information management of the urban drainage pumping stations, research and develop the urban drainage pumping stations visualization management system using the open source WebGIS technology.The main work includes:(1) Research and analysis WebGIS technology, concentrate on researching open source WebGIS architecture from data storage layer, an intermediate layer and Web application display layer.(2) Analysis the business process management, the user needs of urban drainage pumping stations and the use cases of user needs.(3) Design and construct the Urban Pumping Station spatial database.(4) Based on GeoServer, Openlayers, PostgreSQL, PostGIS and other open source GIS software to research and develop the urban drainage pump visual management system for Kunming municipal drainage pumping stations. The system has a visual browsers, spatial query, the map output, buffer analysis, statistical analysis, data export and user management functions.
