Alternative Huizhou Architecture——Space Analysis Of Yangchan Earth Building In Shexian

Speaking of Huizhou, green mountains and ancient villages with row upon row of Ma Tou wallwatts must firstly come into people’s minds as this impression has been deeply rooted. However, in reality, there exist some other ancient villages of adobe building in Huizhou area. In this paper, combined with literature data and field investigation, Yangchan Earth Building will be chosen as example to analyze its Historical origin and spatial form. Through the case study of an ancient Earth Building village, the village’s spatial morphology and its influencing factors will be explored so as to providing a detailed reference case for Huizhou adobe building village’s research.The space development of ancient Huizhou adobe building villages is a long historical process and the growth development is affected by various factors of the times. In order to systematic explore the development situation of village space and influencing factors, this paper takes the top-down approach and uses stratified study method to divide the influencing factors into internal and external aspects. External aspect mainly refers to the macro geography, politics, economy and internal aspect refers some related factors of the village itself. The village itself is divided into four levels:the base level, village level, neighborhood level and residential level. The features and leading reasons of these four level are analyzed respectively so as to understand the system status and dominant factors of village space as well as clear the basic layout and space characteristics of earth building.
