Carbon content in fly ash as one of the important parameters reflect the power of combustion efficiency about thermal power plant boiler. However, due to many factors as poor sampling representativeness, measurement with delay and defective method, values without traceability, etc. the social and economic benefits it takes has been ignored. If the change of fly ash carbon content of operating boilers can be get quickly and directly, line personnel can choose appropriate excess air ratio, suitable air quantity or speed of primary and secondary air, to adjust combust in time, make the boiler run in the best condition and attain the goal of energy saving and consumption reducing. So, researching a new method can real-time and precise monitor carbon content in fly ash is very meaningful for improving combustion efficiency.Firstly, the paper summarizes the advantages and disadvantages of existing microwave measuring carbon method and proposed traceability issues. In-depth knowledge of the physical characteristics of fly ash and microwave, as well as the basic principles of microwave measuring carbon technologies. Then further analyse the causes of microwave signal attenuation and phase change, and the impact of carbon fly ash concentration on microwave measurement accuracy.Then, combined with foreign dual-parameter measurement of microwave techniques for measuring grain moisture, which can eliminate the impact of the density, we proposed a new method of microwave measuring carbon, dual-parameter measurement of microwave technology. At the same time design a complete simulation program, and one of the important part involved, such as sampling techniques, measuring carbon double parameter microwave device, the antenna and the corresponding free-space design and the determination to demonstrate, based on which the AD8302 and the amplitude and phase detection circuit chip an equivalent simulation in Matlab/Simulink, and demonstrate the feasibility of amplitude and phase detection circuit.Finally, based on the basic requirements of the key parts previously discussed, design a complete analog microwave measuring carbon flue system and describes the workflow system for subsequent design verification work.
