The feature of different types of Electric vehicle (EV) chargers was introduced in this paper, the affect to power grid which includes excessive harmonic currents, vibration of voltage and power loss also was analyzed. By the point of inter-comprehension between EV chargers and power grid, the emulation model of EV chargers was presented for analyze. The main research includes three parts.The emulation mode for EV chargers was presented for research on charge and recharge test. According to the different working principle, three types of EV chargers were discussed. The emulation mode based on uncontrolled rectifier charger and DC/DC converters was constructed, which combined with a highly non-linear resistor, power supply source and EV chargers.The power quality at connect point between EV chargers and power grid was analyzed. The highly non-linear load in EV chargers will present a potential problem to power system in the forms of excessive harmonic currents and poor power factor. The interaction of harmonic currents, power factor and voltage fluctuation in power grid caused by EV chargers were discussedThe unbalance of lord was produced due to multiple EV chargers, which brings to overcapacity and lower effect. The emulation mode for power grid was presented which based on actual working database. Considering the practical lord condition, the power grid lord variation under different working model of EV chargers was presented.The results of research work provide an invaluable reference for EV chargers and power grid. The conclusion of research work is of great value for engineering application.
