The construction of smart grid is constantly in depth, the quantity of the Grid’s data is rapidly accumulated. How to make full use of the Grid’s data, get the practical value, has been widely concerned.This paper describes the basic concept of the Grid’s data. Then it summarizes the basic characteristics of the Grid’s data and application difficulties. Key technologies are used to analyze the Grid’s data. In view of the current situation of domestic researches and foreign reports, as well as their engineering applications, the paper explores what kind of tools is available. This paper emphasizes the role of the real-time database. PI system’s composition, technical advantages and application status has been taken into account.Based on the actual situation of the NingHai county-level power grid, this paper studies the application of PI systems, and gives detailed design ideas, innovative points and application results. Through the application of the PI system in the grid’s data, two instances, respectively, realize the optimization of reactive power monitoring and on-line monitoring distribution network load and achieve the corresponding historical data storage,traceability and extract value. They are meant to improve the efficiency of monitoring, to make up for the deficiency of the conventional grid monitoring system, have intelligent decision of reactive power supply configuration and fault lines anticipation, and reduce the power grid control worker’s pressure. This platform is proved that it could be used to reduce the reactive power loss, to shorten the outage timeand promote the more security, stability and economic operation of power grid. In the process of system development, I deepened the understanding of PI system and grid’s data.Practice shows that the PI system powerful real-time database can be used to fully tap the grid’s data values. Starting from the actual demand, study the application of PI system in large power grid data achieved satisfactory effect.
