In recent years, overuse of fossil fuels has posed a grave threat onto the environment, which makes renewable energy a more important status in energy structure. Development and utilization of renewable energy has become an important direction. Water source heat pump technology is to use solar energy stored in water as cold/heat source to convert energy. Currently, this technology has been widely used in some advanced countries. However, due to factors of implementation technology and component costs, there is still a gap in water source heat pump technology between China and these advanced countries. After in-depth study, water source heat pump technology has developed rapidly in China recently, and the gap is gradually reduced. In this paper, water source heat pump technology is studied in meeting the cooling/heating demand of Kailuan (Group) Limited Liability Corporation in Tangshan City, Hebei Province, and applied to the demonstration project.Firstly, energy saving of heat pump system is studied based on thermodynamic, and working principle of water source heat pump technology is also analyzed according the second law of thermodynamics. In this paper, the classification, characteristics and working conditions are analyzed, which provides a theoretical basis to the implementation of water source heat pump demonstration project.Secondly, based on theoretical research, this paper offers an implementation plan of water source heat pump demonstration project from Kailuan (Group) Limited Liability Corporation. This plan makes full use of waste heat of the mine to achieve winter wellhead antifreeze, industrial site building heating, water heating at bathroom, heating and cooling of construction. This plan has some advantages of cooling & heating supply in summer, directly heat of air compressor cooling water, high efficiency & environmental protection, and saving human resource, etc.Finally, the project is applied and operated under the guidance of implement measures. From the operation of demonstration project, wasted heat of mine is taken from water source heat pump system to offer heat energy for wellhead antifreeze, heating at bathroom, heating & cooling of buildings. The result shows that the system can operate reliable and well, achieving the desired design requirements.After the implementation of this demonstration project, on the one hand, the operating costs and product costs reduce, which can improve product competitiveness; on the other hand, energy consumption of heating system and pollutant emission are reduced, which can protect the environment. The integrated planning of energy saving can drive the development of circular economy industrial chain, and can make an important strategic significance in promoting the green construction of Kailuan (Group) Limited Liability Corporation.
