The Outdoor Space Configuration Study Of Zijingang Campus Of Zhejiang University Based On The Space Syntax

The university campus, which is the material environment of the higher education, is the main place in where students live, study and do activities. The outdoor space is the most important component that constitute a material form of the campus and influence the students’ activities greatly. This paper use the principle and method of Space Syntax as a research tool, based on the application of Space Syntax in the study of campus outdoor space. Choose the Zijingang Campus of Zhejiang University as an example to analyze and study the campus outdoor space configuration, taking various analysis methods, such as the Topological Structure Analysis, Segment Analysis and Visibility Graph Analysis. Then, compare them with the actual situation of the built part of campus and the planning situation of the building part of the campus at the same time. The purpose of this study is to find the problems in the campus outdoor space, to explore the rational analysis method in the study of campus outdoor space, and using this method to seek the internal mechanism in the space system about the problems. The value of the study is to propose positive coping strategies for the negative impact of the existing problems, to promote the degree of fit between spatial planning and behavior through the promotion of cognitive level of campus outdoor space and to provide some reference to the construction and research of future campus space.
