The Study Of Chinese Complex In Utzon’s Works And Theories

As architecture globalization has been influenced China, how to inherit and develop traditional Chinese architecture culture is still a big problem which troubling us. This thesis based on the Giedion’s dynamic concept of history, points out the topic about sustainability of history, and tries to see how Chinese architecture culture can be inherited in the world from the view of how traditional Chinese architecture culture influence western architects. Futhermore, it chooses Danish architect J(?)rn Utzon who express metaphor of Chinese culture in design, investigates the relationship between Utzon and China from his background and the living, educational environment, and analyzes Utzon’s works and theories which influenced by Chinese culture. This thesis aims to find how traditional Chinese architectural culture influence Utzon’s work step by step, how Utzon express his translation and reinterpretation of Chinese culture in design from his study and understanding, so that it can give us some inspiration and reflection for Chinese history expressing and cultural heritage in architecture design.
