From Traditional Dwellings To Regional Architecture

There are some old villages in Anyi Conuty, Jiangxi Province which have more than one thousand years history, including Luotian Village, Jingtai Village and Shuinan Village. The traditional dwellings of these villages are called "Gan style" which treat "patio" as their special feature. This kind of traditional dwelling is the product of ancient people’s intelligence and experiences, which adapt to local environment and customs adequately. Along with economic growth, Chinese people require more on substances and spirit. At the same time, traditional housings are suffering collisions of many aspects from new factors of this new era. It is a big issue for us to considered how to develop traditional dwellings become regional buildings which adapt to modern life. Therefore traditional housings are confronted with big challenges yet huge development opportunities.This thesis firstly researches the background of Jiangxi Anyi ancient villages, then recognizes the importance of this research topic. The thesis explains the definition of traditional dwellings and regional architecture, introduces the concept of "regional features". Regional Features becoming the key element throughout the whole thesis which are corresponding things of that influence regional architecture.Firstly, taking museum of Suzhou, Ningbo Museum, Museum Jixi as examples, this thesis researches museums through experience in the field of space and analysis from the shape, material, flow lines, lighting, etc., to learn the essence of their design and highlights, combined with the relevant regional design theory as a guide village regional architecture group-the basis for the museum design. Secondly, by Anyi museum projects field research, in-depth understanding of the site to the actual situation on the basis on the traditional residential area characteristics analysis, from the natural characteristics, cultural characteristics and technical characteristics of areas to study, and in the external characteristics elements in space, spatial organization, facade and modeling, decorative arts studies and internal genes extracted regional design elements. By combining theory and practice ultimately will have to apply the Institute museum design. Finally, through the actual project design museum, the Institute will have to learn theory and case analysis design techniques, based on its unique design elements used in the museum’s plane, space, detail and modeling aspects of design, from traditional houses to change regional architecture.Regional Architectural Design is not the only way, the present study was designed to study the geographical characteristics of traditional houses village group, the regional design elements extracted using regional architecture and design, in order to seek a viable path, from the traditional houses transition to regional architecture.
