With the accelerated pace of urban life and the improvement of people’s living standards, the elevator has become an indispensable transportation means in high-rise buildings. In recent years, due to the continuous occurrence of elevator cage trap and personnel casualty accidents, people begin to pay close attention to the safety of the elevator. In the promotion of the Internet of things technology, the elevator remote monitoring has become an effective means to ensure the safety and reliability of the elevator operation.According to the defects of cumbersome wiring and video transmission difficulties in traditional wired transmission mode, this paper studies and designs an elevator remote video monitoring system based on WiFi. The whole system is mainly composed of three parts: front-end video capture device, WiFi wireless transmission network and remote monitoring platform. The video capture device uses S3C6410 microprocessor which is based on ARM11 kernel as the main control chip to construct the hardware platform. The video data of the elevator cage is collected by the CCD camera. After TVP5150’ decoding and S3C6410’ compressing, the video data is passed to WiFi module composed by APM6658 for wireless transmission. The remote monitoring platform is developed under the PC’s Windows environment. Its main task is to achieve a good human-computer interaction by finishing the software design of video decoding and interface development with the tool of Visual C++. In order to make up for the large error deficiency of using the weighing sensor to identify the overload, this paper adds the function of number detection based on the video surveillance. It improves the accuracy of the elevator overload identification. The remote monitoring platform also uses the Socket programming technology under Windows system to realize the WiFi wireless communication with the elevator video capture device.By building a test platform, the elevator remote video monitoring system based on WiFi is tested under the physical environment. The test results show that the system has achieved the desired goals well. Not only the monitoring screen is real-time and clear, but also it works stably. The system is cost-effective, and will have broad application prospects.
