This research used virtual prototyping to build a three-dimensional solid scraper model, and conducted a simulation analysis on the model in terms of dynamic, mobility and stability. Based on the analysis, a conclusion has been made on the major factors that impact dynamic, mobility and stability of a scraper while it’s working. Therefore, this paper provides a theoretical guidance for the users, and provides design reference for R&D staff to shorten the product development cycle and save development costs. Meanwhile, the virtual simulation methods on scrapers offers some guidance and reference for simulation researches on other construction machinery. In this paper, researches were conducted in several aspects as follows:1.Thewriterstudied the current situation and future trend of scrapers, virtual prototyping technology, simulation technology on mechanical engineering both domestically and internationally. And explained the necessity of using virtual prototyping technology in scraper research;2. The writer comprehensivelystudied the composition, structure and technical specifications of scrapers, and conducted a detailed research on the workingdevice, power transmission system and electrical system of scrapers;3.Thewiter studied SolidWorks and ADAMS to master the use of both software, and solved the problem of data transfer between SolidWorks and ADAMS;4. The writer built a solid model based on a specific type of scraper in the SolidWorks software environment, and assembled, modifiedthe model and made interference checking to prepare for simulation analysis;5. The writer used ADAMS to conduct dynamics simulation analysis onthe scraper model, and obtained data of insertion resistance, digging resistance, increased resistance, material gravity and the state of bearing force of hinge points. A final conclusion was drew that digging resistance was the largest force, and the scraper bucket tip bearsmost of the force. Therefore, the material of bucket tip should be considered while designing and while using the scraper, special attention should be paid tothemaintenanceof the bucket tip and the hinge points;6.According to the results of the analysis on the performance of the optimized scraper;7.The writer used ADAMS to conduct mobility simulation analysis onthe scraper model, and obtained main indicators on translational motion, unloading, transmissibility, unloading height of scrapers in extreme conditions, which has not only provided theoretical data to help user to operate the scrapers proficiently, improved loading efficiency, but also offered design reference for R&D staff.8.The writer used ADAMS to conduct stability simulation analysis onthe scraper model, andlearnedthatfactorssuch as wheels distance, axes distance, tire stiffness, link mechanism, unloading distance and height, the height of the centroid, swing structure can impact the stability of scrapers, and unloading height is the most important factor among them, providing users with a theoretical reference.
