With the continuous expansion of the scale of China’s urbanconstruction, urban construction standards have been unable to meet people’srequirements for a higher quality of life. Communication cables, sewage pipes, rainwater pipelines and water pipelines, buried in the underground pipeline under the repeated excavation, to the people’s life has brought great inconvenience. The construction of the common ditch plays a great role in promoting the development of cities and towns, and the design of the common ditch structure usually does not take into account the role of soil around the structure. This paper will focus on the study of the interaction between the main structure of the common ditch and the surrounding soil.For the structure design of the common ditch, most of the current use of floor consolidation, the structure is simplified as a closed rigid frame, without taking into account the effect of the soil. Due to the large stiffness of the closed pipe gallery which is composed of concrete structure, we can approximate the structure of the model to simplify the calculation of the rigid frame. But when the stiffness of the surrounding soil is different from the stiffness of the concrete, then the structural model is simplified to a closed frame, there will be relatively large errors, and even lead to unpredictable safety problems. The work done in this paper is as follows:1. The common trench structure and the physical and mechanical parameters of various soil. Based on the practical engineering, the finite element model of the interaction between the structure and soil body is established by using ABAQUS.2. The common trench load, the necessary simplification of the load. The effect of deformation on the structure is not considered in the form of the lateral mass, which is applied to the external walls in the way of the static water pressure.3.The overall analysis of the model, and compared with the calculated results without considering the influence of soil.4. The essay according to the results of the analysis, summed up the common ditch structure design improvement method.5. The selection of the common ditch, the determination of the section size of the component and the selection of the reinforcing steel bar are provided.
