In the process of acceptance of firearms, the accuracy of hitting the target is one important indicator. As known, the Aiming equipment was called the ‘Eye of Light Weapons’,its aiming accuracy affects the Weapon’s performance directly. But there are some drawbacks with the existing sighting equipment, for example, it is inconvenient for use, have low Calibration accuracy,wear bore and so on. In this paper, we designed a new system for the light weapons’ calibration, which combined embedded system with image processing technology skillfully. This System obtain the relative position of the gun and the sights by image processing algorithms to realize the calibration.The main work of this thesis is as follows:1.Complete the designing of hardware of the electronic aiming system of light weapons,which can realize the image capture, decoding and encoding, obtain the coordinates of the gun center axis, offset angle of the front sigh in contrast to the 0 ° reference line. At the same time,obtain the relative position between the center position of the gun and the crosshairs, then stored these data in FLASH.2. According to the requirements of the electronic aiming system,we designed the muzzle central location identification algorithm. The core algorithm of the aiming system is Hough transform. First, we studied and analysized the existing Hough transform algorithm,then designed an improved algorithm which is based on random Hough transform according to the requirements of the system and identify the muzzle accurately.3. Aiming at the hardware system, we designed a related software system. First designed the bottom driver, then transplant the algorithm from MATLAB based on PC to the embedded system software environment, realized the image processing hardware implementation. At the final, optimize the software system.This paper designed a electronic aiming system of light weapons, which capture the muzzle image information through CCD device, obtain the relative position between the gun and the sights through Hough transform algorithm to complete the calibration. This system do no harm to the gun, can extend the life of light arms, provide a new method for calibration ofthe light weapons, and can accomplish the calibration in the sniper scene, as well as improve the weapons shooting accuracy.
