With more and more tense urban land, buildings is striving for greater space. To meeting the irregular land parcel, a complex succession of changes is taking place in the field of architectural design. In particular, structural designs for high-rise buildings becomes more complex. Because the layout of the building becomes irregular, structure centroid does not coincide with the center of rigidity. In the case, earthquake can cause torsional vibration to high-rise structures with irregular plane. According to the results of seismic hazard analysis, torsional vibration reinforced the destructive force of the earthquake. Partial destruction of the structure will be the first, or even form a continuous collapse. So, reduce the torsion effect becomes the key of the design of building structures.Firstly, according to some seismic damage examples at home and abroad, This paper discusses the causes of torsional effect and the resulting harm. Then it proposes criterion on irregular structure according to domestic and international norms. discusses several key indicators about the structural torsion effect. Next, this paper focuses on the dynamic characteristics of eccentric structure and how to reduce the torsion effect of eccentric structure. Finally, some practical methods of software analysis have been proposed. For several practical projects, I have used PKPM series software to analyze the structures. According to the analysis results of other finite element analysis software such as ANSYS, ETABS, etc, this paper submitted reformation method of the above structures. In addition to using software analysis, the paper illustrates the importance of design innovation and the manual computation. Therefore, this paper talked over Performance-Based aseismic design theory for use in the design of anti-torsion. The Performance-Based aseismic design theory is a new concept in the civil engineering field since 1990’s.Much attention have been paid to study it.Aiming improving the target performance level of structures, the theory requires that the performance of structures designed using it should be predictable. This approach facilitates the transition from the macro-seismic design to quantification. And this theory is very suitable for irregular structures and large and complex high-rise building. Although, for some large and complex high-rise building structure design, our specification have made some requests。 But, the Performance-Based aseismic design theory is very suitable for the questions not specified in the specification.
