| Ultra low-profile broadband antenna is widely used in the aircraft and in cutting-edge condition. UWB antenna means the possibility of operating in a wider band and the acceptance of transmitting signal band. Low profile refers to small thickness of the antenna element. when the antenna unit is installed in the aircraft surface, low-profile antenna and aircraft surfaces can conformal in a good way. No effects will produced on the aircraft’s own aerodynamic. This paper will research on ultra-wideband antenna which worked in400MHZ-900 MHZ band low-profile, and design a common airborne antenna with a low profile, high gain, ultra-wideband combined with the actual engineering requirements.Array the designed antenna units to make it work when attached to the aircraft wing surface, and meet the engineering requirements given antenna array technical indicators.Through the analysis of various characteristics of the antenna, VIVALDI antenna model is selected. According to VIVALDI physical size and structural adjustment in electrical performance of the antenna model, the unit was optimized. And introduced lightweight materials as fill media for airborne antenna according to the requirements of the aircraft’s weight and the actual situation.Based on the analyze of aircraft flexible / conformal antenna array performance indicators and the best aircraft airborne antenna array, it is found that 192 antenna elements are arranged at equal intervals and the amplitude distributed in accordance with Chebyshev. From the results obtained, this method has a good lineup of performance within 400-900 MHZ band. The maximum sidelobe level is less than-30 dB,and the gain of the antenna array is greater than 26 dB at 400MHz; more than 30 dB in900MHz, which meet demand of the antenna array listed at the industry-leading level. To verify the design and performance which plus recess VIVALDI antenna array, there is a process and final test in this project. Actual verifications of the antenna return loss and the gain are made, confirming the antenna element simulation results. The results proved that the antenna unit plus recess VIVALDI that designed in this study meet the required specifications. |
