With the large-scale construction of the city, A large number of deep excavation engineering appear on the eastern outskirts of Chengdu. Due to the characteristics of expansive soils, the foundation pit slopes appeared collectively failure phenomenon, the analysis shows that rainfall is the main inducement. The study on the relationship between the retaining structures of the foundation pit slopes and rainfall conditions, on the one hand can provide the appropriate reference for designers in considering the impact of rainfall on excavation engineering, on the other hand can help the engineers arrange the construction plan and make prebentive measures.Taking the Shi Dai Xin Cheng foundation pit project as the study subject, the result of establishing a two-dimensional finite element model of rainfall infiltration by SEEP/W software shows the variation of water distribution in unsaturated slope due to rain infiltration; The variation of water distribution in unsaturated slope is converted into the expansion stress distribution of the foundation pit slope through indoor swelling test. A FLAC 3D numerical model was designed to calculate the effects of different rainfall conditions on the internal force of retaining structures; Based on the field monitoring results of the foundation pit slop, the relationship between the rainfall condition and the internal force of retaining structures is analyzed; Through the comparison between field test and numerical simulation, the conclusion is drawn. The result of comparison between field test and numerical simulation shows that the force-rainfall curve can be divided into three stages:when the rainfall is small, rainfall has little influence on the internal force of retaining structures; With rainfall increasing, its influence increases obviously; When the rainfall continues to increase above a certain value, its influence decreases.
